Rachel is a classically-trained musician with experience in a variety of styles and genres. In recent years she has been a member of Queen’s Symphony, Wilfrid Laurier Symphony, Queen’s Musical Theatre, and Solar Piano Trio, while also working on a handful of solo and chamber recitals.
She has formerly studied under Kelly Lindstrom-Parkins, Gisèle Dalbec-Szczesniak, Karma Tomm, and Jeremy Bell and has participated in a variety of masterclasses and competitions over the years. Rachel studied violin and pedagogy at Queen’s University in Kingston and Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo.
She teaches using a uniquely-designed curriculum based on the teachings of Shinichi Suzuki, Mimi Zweig, Kurt Sassmannshaus, Frances Clark, Randall Faber, and others. Rachel is very passionate about pedagogy and continues to participate in various workshops and seminars throughout the year. While her teaching method is primarily based on Western classical training, she frequently takes a student-led approach to lessons by building a vibrant musical library. A variety of musical skills are incorporated into each lesson with the ultimate goal of building musical independence.
